James' E3 Predictions

First off, the safe bets...
  • Nintendo is quite likely to announce some sort of Virtual Console for the DSi. What will likely be surprising is what titles they first announce.
  • Nintendo will announce at least one big title for Wii and hopefully a release date. The most likely candidates are Pikmin 3, the next Mario or Zelda for Wii, or a new Kid Icarus, Star Fox or Metroid.
Some things I as a gamer would like to see, no matter how unlikely, would first off be the announcement of the N.A. Wii releases of Disaster: Day of Crisis, Fatal Frame IV, and Captain Rainbow. All of these will likely stay in their original respective release zones so there's not much hope but I want them anyway. I also hope Nintendo announces a demo system for Wiiware through either the Wii Shop Channel or the Nintendo Channel.

The two non-Nintendo games on Nintendo platforms that I'm most eager to hear about are CAPCOM's Gyakuten Kenji (Ace Attorney Investigations) for DS and Square-Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers for Wii. C'mon, Square-Enix, you've been teasing your fanbase for 2 years and we still don't have a release date!

There are quite a few WiiWare channels that Japan has that other regions don't, from a video channel to a food-ordering one. It's quite likely that plans to bring some of these channels elsewhere will be discussed. Many companies will discuss or announce Wiiware projects at E3, as the program's first year has been pretty successful. I'm most looking forward to hearing more of My Life as a Dark Lord and the hopeful announcement of LostWinds 2.
