THE FACTS: Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People - Episode Three Baddest of the Bands WiiWare | Telltale Games | WiiConnect24 Messaging | Out Now | 1000 Wii Points (£7.00 / $10.00 Online) | 12+ PEGI Controller compatibility: Wii remote (Pointer); Limozeen: Hot Babelien Odyssey mini game - Wii remote (Sideways) This is part three of a five part monthly series. Previous episode - Strong Badia the Free; Next episode - Dangeresque 3 The Criminal Projective So far the Strong Bad series has had a couple of ongoing "things" - the Fun Machine mini game, and the Teen Girl Squad comics were playable alongside the main game, and added to the fun. Sadly, both of these elements have been removed to make way for a slightly more in depth story. Was it worth it? We shall see... In this episode, the Fun Machine breaks, and Strong Bad has to take it to the only place he can get it fixed: Bubs stand. The only problem is that Bubs is charging Strong Bad "one big sack o' cash". and so Strong Bad has the idea of forming a Battle of the Bands concert to raise money. The story is packed with all the usual jokes, as well as more point and click experimenting, slightly longer gameplay and a few new locations (Marzipans house, Strong Mad's bedroom and the concert stages). This episode has the best storyline so far, and offers the usual plot twists and mayhem you'd expect. Adding to the point and click style, you'll find quite a bit of the story harder to work out than in other episodes, and rather than mini games towards the end (like the board game in episode two), you'll just find a bit more point 'n' clicking. It's a real shame that they didn't include some simple band based music mini games, since these could have been some great fun, although it is questionable at how long one such mini game mini game would have lasted anyway, and whether it's worth complaining over a couple of lost minutes. So the question is this: do you prefer "point 'n' click" to "point 'n' click spaced out and made a bit more fun with mini games"? If the answer is the former, then this instalment may just be the best episode yet. If you prefer the extra mini games here and there, you're going to have to put up with waiting for the extra simplistic mini game (Limozeen: Hot Bablien Odyssesy) until you've completed the story, and instead of playing it, you're going to have to watch the Teen Girl Squad comic - but how can you complain, when this game is the longest yet?Final Score 23/30 Good Gameplay 8 The best point 'n' click puzzles yet Presentation 8 Same as before: whilst the developers could always make the settings look a bit more interesting, the voice acting is superb Enjoyment 3 A more puzzling entry with no mini games to enjoy whilst you're thinking Other 4 The longest episode yet, with more than ever before |
