Now, comparing the Infestation with the original, it's clear that the developers backing this re-make want to take things to a different level. And I imagine bringing this both to the Wii and the 3DS will allow them to adapt two slightly different yet cohesive experiences.
Right off the bat, I can tell you I'm not a big fan of the look the game is sporting right now. I'm not totally sure what it is, but something about it is bugging me (no pun intended). If it were any other small-time developer, I might be more inclined to push the criticism button a bit more, but with WayForward backing it, I'm willing to bet they can still surprise people with a good-quality game. And hopefully included in that group are the very people that have given the announcement trailer so many dislikes on YouTube.
Out of the two versions, I'm personally more interested to see how the 3DS version turns out. The arcade style seems more appropriate for this platform and I don't doubt they'll take advantage of having green gushes coming out of the screen and stuff like that. Plus, there's talk of a "unique StreetPass feature" but little has been said as to what this actually is.
Hopefully WayForward can pull a winner out of Centipede Infestation in the end, but right now, it doesn't seem like the gaming community is too pleased with what they're doing. As for me, I'm on the fence at the moment. Maybe something we see this week will give us reason to be looking out for this in the near future.
