Club Nintendo Swag Analysis - Kirby Patch Set

Feature
20th February 2011; By KnucklesSonic8

Welcome to the very first Club Nintendo Swag Analysis feature where we take a closer look at some of the rewards available through the North American hub. For our first article, we'll determine whether or not the Kirby Patch Sets are worth your coins or not!

First added to the rewards area mid-December of last year, the collection comes in two different sets each with its own pair of character designs from Kirby's Epic Yarn. The first contains two of Kirby's transformations seen in the game: the Off-Roader and U.F.O forms. The second set contains simpler graphics, with a patch of Kirby as his normal self along with one of Prince Fluff.

Sizing-wise, they measure out to be roughly 2.5 inches in length, give or take a few increments. They each have a sticky backing covered with a piece of glossy paper, so you can stick them anywhere you like. At this size, they're quite ideal for placing them on everyday items like binders, book bags, television sets or even your laptop. Also, the look and feel of the patches are great. Passing your finger over them, the texture feels very nice - smooth on the background, and slightly more rough on the coloured character outlines. The question is, should you be drawn into the cutesy look and spend your hard-earned coins on these small items?

If you bought these when they were first released, I'd say it was definitely worth it. After all, you would have received a second set of revised patches from Nintendo's Customer Service department (on account of a minor printing error) along with a bonus patch of Kirby in his Parachute form. So you would have ended up with having 5 patches in total, which isn't a bad deal at all for 350 Coins! But now, I'm not so sure if people will see this as worthwhile.

I mean, it would have been nice if all four were included in one or, if not, I kind of wish you could mix and match between the two sets. I personally would have loved to have the U.F.O patch, but I wasn't too fond of the Off-Roader. But I digress. If you're a big fan of Kirby like I am and think there's a specific spot where you'd like to show off your Kirby love, then by all means get it. The price might seem like its 100 Coins more than it should be, but I wouldn't go so far as to say its overpriced. On the other hand, if you haven't redeemed your coins for much, you may want to consider some of the other things you can get instead.

Head to Club Nintendo to redeem this reward today!
