The WLI's - February Awards

It's time for another selection of WLI's - the awards that we give out for outstanding achievement in gaming. Unlike the first time last month - we are now only going to give out two awards per month - one for a person and one for a game. The reason for each award is also stated below.

Hidetoshi Endo and the Hudson Soft team

For superior Wii third party coverage

Over at Hudson Soft, there tends to be a new game making it's way out every month for release on the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel. Not only this, but each one is also decent - unlike many other games available for download. Okay, the Wii selection of games could have been better (here's looking at you, Sports Island), but the Bomberman franchise can lighten up any DS download play session, alongside the PC Engine / Turbo Grafx selection of games on the Virtual Console. Thanks to all this, Hudson are one of the best third party developers out there for Nintendo consoles at the moment. Keep up the good work!

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

For excellence in the action genre

Resident Evil 4 has it all. The gameplay, the story, the atmosphere, the screams, the graphics, the violence, the girls... the list could go on. It is simply excellent in every field, and the Wii version brought more excellence to the table, with the extra missions and items to play with. Some complain that the story mode could have been a bit longer, but it's still an epic tale that you can play through again and again, and just be as terrified and excited each time. We haven't got around to reviewing it yet, but you can be sure that when we do, it'll end up scoring at least a 29.
