Limelight Software has been developing games for years under the name brand of 4Pockets. Their main focus for years has been towards the mobile market, and only recently did they decide to get involved with the DSiWare service. Sudoku  4Pockets was their first title, and we reviewed it some months ago. So what other plans does the team have for this platform? We organized this brief Q&A to find out.

Wiiloveit:
Hi there! Please tell us a little bit about 4Pockets.
Tracy:
4Pockets have been developing games and apps for the mobile market since 1990, we have worked on platforms ranging from the Sharp organizers, Windows Mobile and Apple iPhone. As a huge fan of the Nintendo DS and DSi it was a natural progression to start releasing DSiWare products.

What demographic were you targeting with your first release?
The beauty of the DS and DSi is that it crosses age barriers, just about every generation of my family either has a DS or a DSi so we wanted to make our first game something that they could pretty much all play. My niece who is just turning 11 plays on the beginner levels and started out by using the hints to help her play. My mother inlaw who is over 60 (shhh I didn’t tell you that) and a Sudoku addict loves the advanced levels.

What motivated you to develop this game when other Sudoku titles already exist on this platform?
We based Sudoku 4Pockets on one of our Windows Mobile Games which is extremely popular because people can work their way up through the levels, there is a great hints system and when a player asks for a hint they are told the name and nature of the move. So the game isn’t dumbed down it gives players the chance to progress and to learn.

What makes your game stand out from other Sudoku titles?
As well as the ability to learn and progress through the levels Sudoku 4Pockets contains an amazing 3600 puzzles so players get a lot of play and value for their money.

Are you working on any new DSiWare projects at this time?
If I told you, I would have to kill you (sorry couldn't resist). It’s a case of "watch this space".

Many of your mobile titles look like they'd do well on DSiWare. Do you have plans to port over any of your past games to this platform?
Thanks, I am sure you will be seeing some of our 4Pockets games on the DSiWare stores.

Your welcome. Any final comments?
Thanks for the questions. Look forward to talking to you again
soon.

Thanks for making this interview possible, Tracy. We wish your team all the best as you try to find your place on the DSiWare service and beyond. We'll keep our eyes peeled for new developments from you guys.
