Tony Hawk: RIDE
Not too long ago this rating popped up. It's good to hear a bit more about some of the content found within the game. The game's been rated Everyone 10+ just like Downhill Jam, for "Animated Blood", "Lyrics" and "Mild Suggestive Themes". The summary explains why: - "This is a skateboarding simulation game in which players can compete in stunt challenges and racing events through international venues. Players perform grinds, grabs, jumps, flips, and other aerial stunts to score points and become the top skateboarder. Players can also customize their skater avatars with different clothing and tattoos. Some tattoos depict women in provocative poses and outfits (e.g., a "pin-up girl" in a garter belt and panties), and one tattoo displays scratch marks dripping with red etchings designed to look like blood. Some song lyrics within the game can contain the expletive "hell," allusions to violence (e.g., "When she held a gun to my head" ), or suggestive material (e.g., "A sweet caress and…gently undress" and "turn me on with your electric feel")."
Solomon's Key (Arcade)
Well, well, well! It looks we have another Tecmo game heading our way! It's interesting that the Arcade version is coming here since I just picked up the NES Version not too long ago. That aside, the summary is fairly generic in what it tells us and it's rather surprising that no mention of attack patterns or magic abilities is mentioned in the summary.- "This is a single-screen puzzle game in which players obtain keys to unlock a series of exits and progress through various levels. Players create blocks that can be used as platforms to navigate through the maze-like environments, while also avoiding tiny dragons, ghosts and monsters that sometimes block their path."
It's great to see the game's heading our way especially so soon after Japan just got it!
Rygar (Arcade)
Here's one I wasn't expecting: looks like Rygar is headed our way as yet another addition to the VCA service. The game's been rated Everyone 10+ for Mild Fantasy Violence. Given the relative popularity the game has had in the past, it shouldn't be a big surprise that this is coming to the VCA. - "This is an arcade-style action game in which players fight their way through 2D side-scrolling environments to earn points and achieve the highest score. Players can punch demons, dragons, lava creatures, and large birds, or use a projectile-chain weapon to defeat them. Enemies react to damage by dissolving in a red-and-white burst of bones. In one level, there are small animal skulls in the background."
Ninja Gaiden (Arcade)
Japan got this one not too long ago and look, we're getting a confirmation that Tecmo has plans to release the VCA version of Ninja Gaiden here in NA. The game's been rated Everyone 10+ for "Alcohol Reference", "Suggestive Themes", and "Violence". The game will surely do well here. - "This is an arcade-style action game in which players assume the role of a ninja who fights his way through a 2D side-scrolling environment. Players punch, kick, and use swords to slash at street thugs carrying batons and blades. Occasional boss battles require players to attack stronger enemies in more protracted battle. When players lose all their "lives," a "Game Over" screen depicts a circular saw being lowered down on the central character as the screen fades to red. In one area of the game, a background mural shows a man in a tight-fitting leather outfit that exposes portions of his buttocks. Some billboards and signs display the word beer."
It's great to see Tecmo bringing these games our way! Let's hope that Namco follows suit!
-- Next up, we have a series of different titles that have been rated in the last week that seem to be mysterious in nature (i.e., this marks the first time ever hearing about them). Two by Ubisoft and one by GameMill Entertainment.
Water Sports
Well this certainly sounds like a game that's taking advantage of the Wii Sports Resort craze, doesn't it? They even have jet skiing and wakeboarding. This game is by GameMill Entertainment and it can definitely be said that this sounds like a WiiWare game. Hopefully we'll hear an official announcement shortly. - "This is a sports game comprised of various water events including kitesurfing, jet skiing, and wakeboarding. Players can jump off ramps, navigate around cones and buoys, and collect coins as they race through the courses for each event."
Team Elimination Games
This is the first of the two mysterious games from Ubisoft. This definitely sounds like a WiiWare game to me. The summary tells us a bit about the game: - "This is a collection of mini-games in which players compete as contestants in a whimsical TV game show. Mini-games include avoiding a plumber that shoots streams of water out of a toilet; breaking fences with opponents on the other side; throwing "water bombs" at opponents to get them clean; and flinging dessert items at jesters to knock them into the water. Exclamation points and "dizzy stars" sometimes appear above characters' heads to indicate damage."
Sounds like it could be a fun game. Let's hope we get word on the game from Ubisoft soon!
Cook Wars
This is the second of the two mysterious games from Ubisoft and it also sounds like a WiiWare game to me especially with the idea that the game takes place on a game board. The summary gives us some details on the game and honestly, it sounds quite fun! The game's rated Everyone for some "Alcohol Reference", "Comic Mischief" and even "Mild Suggestive Themes" because of a simple gesture from a female character. - "This is a cooking game in which players compete with other chefs to become the best in the world. Players move around a game board, collect coins, and perform a variety of cooking tasks (e.g., chopping, slicing, grating, and heating). Some recipes may include ingredients such as wine, liqueur, and sherry. A few cutscenes contain humurous antics: a chef falls into a fish tank full of lobsters; another chef coughs fire after tasting something hot; and a chef on the ground gets stepped on and says, "owww!" One female chef occasionally winks at the camera and dances in a flirtatious manner."
The game still could very well be a Wii game since one site claims that the game is releasing on October 20th so we'll have to wait and see. |
