This week, IGN published a hands-on feature taking a look at Guitar Hero 5 to coincide with its upcoming release in a couple weeks. What's interesting is that on the last page of the feature, IGN revealed an exclusive tidbit that they surely must have had to get the go-ahead on before revealing. Guitar Hero 5 will mark the debut of SD Card streaming! Players will be able to play songs straight off the SD Card making for "easier downloads, larger expansions and quicker loads". And it looks we'll need this feature! Over 800 songs can fit on a 32GB SD Card and that includes any sort of album artwork, strong audio quality and other notable data. All of this will make for even less "fridge-cleaning"! Vicarious Visions have also incorporated what's called a "Rock Archive" which allows you to manage any data you may have on your Wii, and be able to move and transfer files if you already have DLC stored on the internal memory. The idea of this feature makes for something that's more "versatiles" than, say, a hard drive and as the site points out, this capability now eliminates any sort of fridge-cleaning issues people may have had in the past and for that reason, this should get many excited especially since we've already seen how fantastic the SD Card Menu is. We can only hope this will be applied to other music games (such as Pop 'N Music when it arrives with its DLC, and maybe even DDRHP3 if it gets DLC) and although it's currently unknown if this feature can be extended to past games (such as Samba de Amigo) or even if this can be used with other games that feature DLC (such as those on WiiWare), this certainly is a fantastic feature! Leave it to Vicarious Visions and Activision to pioneer yet another innovative feature for Wii owners! |
