New screens, new info surfaces on DDR Hottest Party 3

posted 19 Aug 2009 17:46 by Knuckles Sonic8
Konami is one of the attendees at the Gamescom event and as such, they've stationed showings of DDR Hottest Party 2 on the floor. Interestingly, there's no showing of Hottest Party 3 or even X2 so it was expected that not much news would surface but thankfully, some news did end up coming up by surprise along with a ton of screens! Let's begin with the Fact Sheet, shall we? You can view the fact sheet in its entirety at the bottom of this entry. For starters, HP3 has been rated E10+ and yet, the PS2 version hasn't been rated yet. What's more is that this rating has yet to surface on ESRB's official site yet so surely we can look out for that soon. The game is listed as having a November 2009 release date but thus far, retailers are listing the game as arriving on October 27th so who knows, maybe the game will go gold even before then, we'll have to wait and see.

Onto more important news! We get confirmation of two new licenses that are part of the final songlist: "So What" by Pink and "La Camisa Negra" by Juanes. The first song in particular I wasn't expecting at all. More on songlist news, the fact sheet confirms that both SKU's will contain at least 60 songs! For those who have followed the Hottest Party sub-series since the start, you'll know that this is great news. HP1 only featured 50 songs dead-on, and HP2 featured 51 songs (including Lesson by DJ). This is particularly impressive given how much content Konami is already delivering in this release - very impressive graphic stylings, tons of modes, Balance Board support, multi-directional hand markers all making for a really, really strong release!

Onto screens. We got some brilliant artwork that Konami has supplied us with along with some screenshots that reveal some new tidbits about the upcoming game. It appears that one of Hottest Party 3's new modes is known as "D.D.R. Tournament". What this entails at this point remains to be seen. However, Konami hasn't left us completely out of the dark. See below for a series of wonderfully-stylized screens that seem to correspond to this new mode (or, if not, possibly the game's intro sequence).

The screens also reveal that Hottest Party 3 will be getting the Reverse modifier, something not seen in previous HP games but has been a staple of past DDR games. This is yet another feature that Konami seems to have added to make HP3 more feature-rich and in tune with DDR games of the past with features that haven't been included up until this point. Another new feature that has been revealed in the screenshots is the ability to change your backup dancers! This is a great new addition as you're able to even use Mii's and customize each individual dancer. This is something that hasn't been included in any DDR game before it and while it may seem small, it goes a long way in ensuring that the routines are different every time you play. Screenshots also reveal that Hottest Party 3 will have increased customization, and this fact was also touched on in the Fact Sheet. Customization of Mii's was touched on in Hottest Party 2 but through the screens, you can see that Konami has gone deeper to deliver an even better experience in that regard -- I'm particularly fond of the mysterious mech suit, and the astronaut suit that seems slightly out of place!

Take a look at some of the screens for yourself (found below) and see what exactly I'm talking about. I cannot wait to hear more info on what's shaping up to be a unique, and fresh new DDR game, carrtying the tradition that HP2 started.
