Nintendo’s Top 10 Selling Switch Games for 2022
Here is the lowdown of the Top 10 best selling games on the Nintendo Switch at the end of January 2022. Please take note that the list only includes games developed by Nintendo and does not include series such as Fifa 19 even though millions of copies are sold every year. The list can change rapidly as series such as Zelda and Super Mario sell millions of copies worldwide in a matter of weeks from their release dates.
Switch has been a great success for Nintendo since it’s launch in 2017. They have marketed games astutely as well. The general strategy is to release the standard version of a game on the Nintendo Wii U first. This gets players used to a game, and creates higher demand for it by the time a deluxe version is released on the Switch at a later date. Mind you the normal or standard versions of games like Super Mario and Pokemon still manage to sell by the millions in any case.

It seems that players can never get enough of the classic Nintendo
series, while the Switch console is attracting new players into trying
and buying their games. Lets face it you can have hours of endless fun
playing any of the games on the list, not to mention the deluxe versions
of some these that will be released later this year, or other games
from these franchises due out at later dates.
Selling like hot cakes
Nintendo have been in the gaming industry for over three decades or
so, and that experience helps them to understand how to maximize sales
of both consoles and games. Strong sales in Europe, Japan and the United
States mean that games will sell quickly within weeks of their release.
Super Mario Odyssey was only second in the list despite selling over
13 million copies, while Super Smash Bros Ultimate shifted an impressive
copies in less than six months.
More popular than the Wii U
Sales figures show that the Nintendo Switch is more popular than the Wii U. However these consoles are marketed in different ways. The Switch is geared towards individual players whereas the Wii U is more about a number of relatives or friends playing the same game. When a group of players like a game on Wii U then some if not all of them will later buy the same game on Switch.
